‘They say she had a four-pack of crème caramels left in her fridge. That’s so sad. Sadder than anything. What a waste. Can’t think of anything sadder than an uneaten dessert.’

At Laurel House, residents’ lives rarely cross paths. But when a foul stench raises suspicions about the absence of the woman at number 61, her neighbours are forced to embark on an unsavoury investigation and blur the boundaries of their usually private lives. Hindered by disinterested housing authorities, the tenants find their daily routines infested by a creeping sense of dread and some very unwelcome pests.

Directed by Jess Barton (Refuge, The Space; Diversifications, The Old Red Lion; Feel More & AAAAA, The Lion & Unicorn) and written by award-winning playwright Farah Najib (Tony Craze Award 2020 & Bruntwood Longlist 2022 for Dirty Dogs), MAGGOTS is a darkly humorous story exploring loneliness, community, and the ways we fail to connect.

CONTENT ADVISORY: Adult themes, discussions of death.
